Yeosu boasts of beautiful landscape and various marine facilities of the South Coast. It is a city of patriotic allegiance thanks to the embedded patriotism and long-time popular loyalty of Chungmugong Yi Sunsin, one of the greatest admirals in world navy history. Flights between Seoul and Yeosu take 55 minutes, and those between Jeju and Yeosu take 45 minutes.
Thanks to a new runway operated starting November 25, 2004, Yeosu Airport can provide more convenient air traffic service with newly commissioned mid-sized aircraft as well as better flight punctuality and decrease of cancellations. Likewise, following the entire expansion work completed in 2005, the airport became a vital cog in Gwangyangman Bay especially in the development of the free economic zone, Yeosu National Industrial Complex, Yulchon Industrial Complex, etc., as the gateway airport in the eastern part of Jeollanam-do.
