The safety control system of the airport operator encompasses an organization, responsibilities and obligations, safety policies and safety control procedures required for in-house safety management as per the air safety program of the government.
- SMS is the most effective way to facilitate the culture of safety by encouraging everyone involved to “think about the unthinkable” regarding safety.
It is an integrative system enabling every member of the organization to endeavor to constantly enhance safety while prioritizing safety in daily tasks
- SMS is based on the preemptive methodology of continuously identifying risk factors and preventing incidents by ditching ex-post perspectives whereby past incidents were analyzed to prevent future ones.
- SMS is set up by systematically combining organizational aspects and cultural aspects with the safety control procedures in the sequence of planning, implementation, surveillance, examination and improvement.
KAC, the airport operator and its partners for managing airport facilities, and also the air transportation provider, aircraft handling businesses, and other related companies engaged in aircraft related tasks in the movement areas of 14 airports nationwide, including the Air Route Traffic Facility Center(ARTFC) and ten air radio beacon stations, are all required to take part in SMS voluntarily.
