Information for travelers with pets

The Animal Protection Act and relevant policies mandate that pets older than 3 months be registered at an animal hospital close to the residence of the owner using embedded electronic chip, external wireless device, or registration ID tag. The owner also has to carry the animal care note where rabies vaccinations are recorded while having an ID tag indicating the name, contact, and animal registration number on the pet.

The pet shall be put in a kennel while in the airport building. If the pet has to be moving outside of the kennel, it has to be in the stroller or tied to a leash (about 50 cm long).
(The 50 cm criterion is intended to prevent any disturbance to other airport customers and to have the pet stay close to the owner.)

A “fierce dog*” as per the Animal Protection Act is not allowed in the airport for safety.(*Tosa and its hybrid, American Pitbull Terrier and its hybrid, American Staffordshire Terrier and its hybrid, Staffordshire Bull Terrier and its hybrid, Rottweiler and its hybrid)

A service dog shall have a service dog sign on it..

The owner is required to carry a plastic bag to pick up excreta and wet wipes so that any excreta can be immediately and completely cleaned up. Ask for help at the nearby airport information desk as needed.

Pets are not allowed on the chair/bench inside the airport building.

Pet owners are advised against using an elevator with the pet; if needed, however, the pet shall be cuddled by the owner in the elevator.

The owner shall be responsible for reparation of any damages to the airport facilities caused by the pet. Pet owners may be restricted from accessing the airport if they cause too much disturbance to other airport customers.

Board the plane

Be sure to take safety measures inside the airport building to prevent any inconvenience to other customers.

Generally, pets allowed to be transported in the airplane are limited to dogs, cats, and (pet) birds. Other species including insects are not allowed and will have to be transported via specific courier service.
Refer to the airline websites below for details.

Even if air transportation is allowed, be sure to check whether transportation is permitted by the destination.
